Privacy Policy
GreenPen AI Labs builds tools for teachers, so we take privacy seriously, especially where students are involved. This policy explains what information this website collects and how we use it.
The short version
- This website has no accounts, no sign-up forms, no advertising and no cookies. We use analytics to count visits and clicks.
- We only receive personal information if you choose to email us.
- We don't sell or rent personal information, and we don't use it for advertising.
- This website never asks for or collects student information.
Information we collect
Information you send us. If you email us, we receive your name, email address and whatever you include in your message. We use it to reply, to discuss pilots or partnerships you ask about, and to keep a record of our conversation.
Technical information. Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records basic request data (such as IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time) to deliver the site, keep it secure and fix problems. We don't use this data to identify you or build profiles.
Analytics. We use two analytics services to understand how the site is used: pages viewed, buttons clicked, videos played, the referring site, approximate location (country and city), and device and browser type. Vercel Web Analytics doesn't use cookies or store IP addresses, and groups visits using a hash that resets every day. Mixpanel stores a random identifier in your browser's local storage so it can recognize repeat visits, and uses your IP address to estimate your location. Neither is used to identify you personally, and we look at this information only in aggregate, to improve the site. You can clear the identifier at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser.
Service providers
We use a small number of providers to run this website. They process data only to provide their service:
- Vercel hosts the website, receives the technical request data described above, and provides our analytics.
- Mixpanel provides product analytics, as described above.
- Google Fonts delivers the site's typefaces. When your browser loads a font, Google receives your IP address and browser details.
- Our email provider stores messages you send us.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or as part of a merger or acquisition, with notice where required.
Student data and our products
This website does not collect student information, and you should not send us student records or personally identifiable student information by email.
Our products, such as IEP Coach, have their own terms and privacy notices that explain how they handle data. We design them around the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and California student-privacy law, including the Student Online Personal Information Protection Act (SOPIPA). Where a school or district uses our products with student records, that use is governed by a written data-privacy agreement with the school or district.
Children
This website is intended for educators, school leaders and partners. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
How long we keep information
We keep email correspondence for as long as needed to respond and for our ordinary business records, then delete it. Hosting logs are kept by our provider for a short period under its own retention settings.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you by emailing us. Depending on where you live, including California, you may have additional rights under local law. We will not treat you differently for exercising them.
Security
The website is served only over encrypted HTTPS, and we limit access to the information we hold. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update it on this page and change the effective date above.
